It's February and you know what that means...!

It's It's February so that must mean... It's time for the New Orleans Black Chorale's Annual Black History Concert!! It happens Sunday February 24 at 5:00 pm at Xavier University's Administration Auditorium. The concert is FREE and open to the public!  Oh, and the Groundhog says it's going to be an early Spring!

Honorees at the NOBC Concert Feb 26

We're excited about out special honorees who will be recognized at the concert tomorrow!!
Among the honorees: The New Orleans Musician Union (represented by Deacon John Moore!), Dillard University and Xavier University, and a posthumous award to Archbishop Philip Hannan.
Come see them all Sunday February 26 5:00pm at the Xavier University Administration Auditorium!

Getting Ready for Sunday!

We're getting ready for the New Orleans Black Chorale's Black History Concert on Sunday (5pm Xavier University's Administration Auditorium).
Looking forward to the presentation of God's Trombones - I hear there are some great voices doing the narration!

The New Orleans Black Chorale will perform at the opening reception for the Freedom Riders Traveling Exhbit Thursday January 6, 2011 @ the New Orleans Public Library's main branch (Tulane & Loyola) 6:30pm-8:30pm.
Presented by the NOPL's Black History Committeeand the African American Resource Center.

NOBC Director to Recieve Classical Arts Award

Dr. John E. Ware, director of the New Orleans Black Chorale will recieve the Big Easy
Entertainment Award's Classical Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement. The award
will be presented in March at the Big Easy's Tribute to the Classical Arts.

Ware has been the chair of the Xavier University Music Department where he
conducts the concert choir and opera workshop. He has been the conductor and
musical director of the New Orleans Black Chorale for most of it's 30 year history.

Congratulations Dr. Ware!

First the bad news:
We tried to re-schedule the NOBC's Christmas concert, but due to weather problems
and schedule conflicts, it just wasn't possible.

Now the good news!:

You can see the New Orleans Black Chorale perform at the annual Black History Concert on
February 28, 2010. Mark your calendar!!!
